About Money Matter$
Mission Statement
Money Matter$ takes pride in providing friendly, personalized service. Unlike large accounting firms, you get to know our staff, and we make sure you feel welcome and comfortable. We value your needs and work hard to exceed your expectations when providing our services.
Tax Preparation Services
Tax preparation is a significant part of our practice. Our goal, when entrusted with your tax filings, is to use our ever-changing tax legislation to ensure you’re paying the least amount of taxes by law. Unlike many of our large-chain competitors, that roll up their sidewalks at the end of tax season, Money Matter$ is available year-round for the needs of our clients.
New Business Bookkeeping Services
Starting a new business can seem like a lot to the business person that is not actually an accountant. We are available to consult with new businesses to explain the bookkeeping process, discuss the pros and cons on the various forms of organizations, assist in the formation of the entity that is chosen right through to the preparation of the tax return.
Tailored Services to Suit Your Needs
Understanding that every client’s needs are as unique as the client, we tailor our services to suit your needs. A large part of our service is monthly bookkeeping, providing a detailed profit and loss that is a valuable tool in decision making and tax planning.
Setting the Bar
These are some of the things that set us apart and the reason why a vast majority of our business is by referral from our valuable clients that have placed their trust in us over the years.
Money Matter$ was nominated for 2016 Worcester’s BEST local services in the category of Accountants.
Employees
I am a graduate of Nichols college. On campus recruiting landed me my first job in public accounting with Main Hurdman, one of the Big Eight Accounting Firms back in 1985. Being a junior accountant in a large CPA firm basically was a bean counting job. This is where I became very interested in taxes.
After three years, I left the firm and worked for Shawmut Bank, central tax unit. This was very impersonal large department, basically piles on the desk, and no client interaction; a conveyor belt. I wanted more hands on so from there I worked for several small firms in addition to Robert Half Accountemps. The temp agency filled the holes between tax season.
During my time with Accountemps I landed a job at a manufacturing company in Worcester as Assistant Controller managing the entire accounting department. Still staying true to my love of taxes, I burned the candle at both ends until after three years I had to make a decision.
It was then that I opened my own business. It was a slow start like any new business. Over almost 3 decades I have been serving our local community with tax preparation, bookkeeping and payroll services, business consultation, and problem resolution.
I am an EA; this is obtained by the IRS after passing an exam and maintaining yearly continued education. This enables me to represent my clients before the IRS, resolving tax problems and audits on their behalf.
Laura is a sophomore at Worcester State University. She is majoring in business with a concentration in accounting.
Laura graduated from Bay Path Vocational Technical High School located in Charlton, MA in 2015. Her vocational training was Business Technology. Mom was very fortunate to be able to hire Laura as a co-op student at Money Matter$ while Laura was in high school.
This is where Laura learned what her mother really does all day. She is now into her 4th tax season and has become very valuable to the organization. Laura handles all the day-to-day front-end work, caring for client needs and making appointments. She has become very proficient in QuickBooks.
